Plain-English summary
Chrysler Group LLC is recalling certain model year 2003-2008 Dodge RAM 2500 4x4 and 3500 4x4, model year 2007-2008 Dodge RAM 3500 4x2 Cab Chassis, and model year 2006-2008 Dodge RAM 1500 Mega Cab 4x4 trucks. These vehicles were manufactured between February 12, 2002, and February 13, 2008. This recall supersedes a previous tie rod recall (11V350), and vehicles previously remedied under that campaign are also affected by this new campaign.
The defect involves the left tie rod assembly, which may break. A failure of this component may result in a loss of steering control, which increases the risk of a crash.
Chrysler notified owners and launched the recall campaign in January 2014. Owners may contact Chrysler at 1-800-247-9753 for more information. Chrysler's recall campaign number is N62. Owners may also contact the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration Vehicle Safety Hotline at 1-888-327-4236 (TTY 1-800-424-9153) or visit www.safercar.gov.
