Real risk of harm even if no illness or injury has been reported yet. Stop using the product and follow the agency's guidance.
Our severity reasoning: The recall involves a risk-of-harm product where injury has not yet been reported, specifically a failure to conform to FMVSS 403 that could lead to unexpected vehicle movement and injury.
Plain-English summary
Prevost Cars, Inc. is recalling one model year 2013 H3-45 coach bus manufactured between November 14, 2011, and July 3, 2012. The recall addresses a defect in the automatic transmission control module where the vehicle has the wrong software installed.
This software error means the transmission may not lock to prevent movement while the wheelchair lift door is open. Consequently, the bus fails to conform to Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard (FMVSS) number 403, which governs platform lift systems for motor vehicles. If the parking brake lock fails while the lift door is open, the bus may unexpectedly move, increasing the risk of injury.
Prevost has notified the owner of the affected vehicle. The corrective action involves reprogramming the transmission free of charge. Owners may contact Prevost at 1-418-883-2888 x 6558 for more information. The campaign recall number is SR13-25.
