The recall is due to an incorrect material composition used to cast the handles, which results in embrittlement and reduced material strength. This defect may cause the handle to break before the window latch is released. Ricon notified affected vehicle manufacturers in October 2012 and is providing replacement handles. Vehicle manufacturers will remedy the affected transit buses free of charge.
