The recall addresses a defect in the instrument cluster where specific tell-tale lights, including the high beam lamp and turn signals, may fail to illuminate when intended or may flicker. Additionally, the ABS lamp may not illuminate when the system experiences a fault. These issues cause the vehicles to fail to comply with Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard No. 101 (Controls and Displays) and No. 121 (Air Brake Systems).
The defective lighting may increase the risk of a crash. If the high beam tell-tale does not illuminate, oncoming traffic may be distracted by the high beam headlights. If the ABS lamp does not illuminate during a malfunction, the driver is not alerted to the issue.
