Plain-English summary
Spartan Chassis, Inc. is recalling certain model year 2010-2012 Spartan Gladiator emergency rescue chassis manufactured between April 12, 2010, and June 5, 2012. The recall affects vehicles equipped with a Cummins ISX 15L engine and fan clutch assembly.
The defect involves the shearing of fasteners used to mount the fan clutch mounting bracket to the front of the engine. This failure may lead to the separation of the cooling fan, fan clutch, and mounting bracket. If this separation occurs while the vehicle's cab is in the raised position, it could increase the risk of personal injury.
Spartan Chassis will notify owners and repair the vehicles. The recall began on August 10, 2012. Owners may contact Spartan at 1-800-543-5008 or the NHTSA Vehicle Safety Hotline at 1-888-327-4236.
