Spartan RV chassis fuel filter hose can separate causing leak and stall

Shyft Group is recalling certain 2022-2025 Spartan RV Chassis K2 vehicles with Cummins L9 diesel engines because the remote fuel filter hose may separate from the fitting.

What this means for you

Illness, injury, or structural failure has been reported. Stop using the product immediately and contact the manufacturer for a refund or repair.

Our severity reasoning: Rubric level 4 covers structural vehicle defects: hose separation is a physical failure of fuel system containment that both releases fuel and stalls the engine.

Plain-English summary

Shyft Group is recalling certain 2022-2025 Spartan RV Chassis K2 vehicles equipped with Cummins L9 diesel engines. About 85 units are potentially affected.

The remote fuel filter hose may separate from the fitting, causing a fuel leak and an engine stall.

NHTSA states that a fuel leak in the presence of an ignition source increases the risk of a fire, and that an engine stall increases the risk of a crash.

Shyft will work with the equipment manufacturer, Cummins, to replace the fuel hoses free of charge. Owner notification letters were mailed on March 10, 2025. Owners may contact RV Chassis customer service at 1-855-589-9836, or the NHTSA Vehicle Safety Hotline at 1-888-327-4236.
