2023 Fisker Ocean Recall: Instrument Cluster Warning Lights Display Incorrectly
Fisker is recalling 2023 Ocean vehicles because warning lights display with incorrect font sizes and colors, and fail to illuminate during bulb checks. The defect risks drivers missing critical safety information.
What this means for you
Real risk of harm even if no illness or injury has been reported yet. Stop using the product and follow the agency's guidance.
Our severity reasoning: The recall involves safety-critical warning lights with display defects (incorrect colors, font sizes, and failure to illuminate), creating risk of drivers missing essential safety alerts. No injuries or illnesses are reported in the source text, meeting the criterion for high-risk products with risk of harm but no reported injury.
Plain-English summary
Fisker Group Inc is recalling all 2023 Fisker Ocean vehicles due to defects in the instrument cluster display. The warning lights for Brake, Park, and Antilock Brake System (ABS) show incorrect font sizes and appear in amber instead of red. Additionally, multiple warning lights fail to illuminate during the ignition cycle bulb check.
These defects violate Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standards 135, 101, 138, and 208, which govern light vehicle brake systems and controls and displays. Warning lights are critical for driver safety; when they do not display correctly, drivers may not receive essential safety alerts, increasing the risk of crashes or injuries.
Fisker will release a free over-the-air (OTA) software update to correct the display issues. Owner notification letters were mailed on June 11, 2024. Owners should contact Fisker customer service at 1-844-347-5371 for information about the update, or call the NHTSA Vehicle Safety Hotline at 1-888-327-4236 (TTY 1-800-424-9153).
