Plain-English summary
Lightning eMotors Inc. is recalling certain 2022 FE4 and FT3 vehicles. The recall involves 226 vehicles in total.
The digital instrument panel may fail to illuminate the "BRAKE" and "ABS" warning lights when a low brake fluid error or an ABS system error is detected. This defect causes the vehicles to fail to comply with Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standards number 101, "Control and Displays," and 105, "Hydraulic and Electric Brake Systems." If the warning lights fail to illuminate, the driver may not be warned of low brake fluid or an ABS malfunction, which increases the risk of a crash.
Lightning eMotors will update the instrument panel software free of charge. Owner notification letters were mailed on November 22, 2022.
