Starcraft Recalls School Buses Due to Missing Structural Adhesive

Starcraft is recalling 2008-2011 Prodigy and Quest school buses because body panels may lack structural adhesive, risking collapse in a crash.

What this means for you

Illness, injury, or structural failure has been reported. Stop using the product immediately and contact the manufacturer for a refund or repair.

Our severity reasoning: The recall involves a structural vehicle defect where body panels may collapse in a crash, posing a risk of serious injury or death, which aligns with the 'Severe' criteria for structural defects and significant injury reports.

Plain-English summary

Starcraft Bus is recalling certain model year 2008 through 2011 Prodigy MFSAB and Quest model school buses manufactured between October 20, 2008, and January 18, 2011. The recall involves 1,385 vehicles.

The body panels on these buses could be missing a structural joint adhesive. As a result, the buses fail to comply with Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard No. 221, "School Bus Body Joint Strength." In the event of a crash, the structural collapse of the school bus body panels could result in serious injury or death.

Starcraft will notify owners, and dealers will repair the buses free of charge. The safety recall began on February 28, 2011. Owners may contact Starcraft at 1-800-348-7440 or the NHTSA Vehicle Safety Hotline at 1-888-327-4236.
