Plain-English summary
Navistar, Inc. is recalling certain model year 2008-2011 motorhomes manufactured on behalf of Monaco RV. The affected vehicles include the Holiday Rambler Ambassador, Endeavor, Imperial, Navigator, and Sceptor; Monaco Camelot, Diplomat, Dynasty, Knight, and Signature; and Beaver Coach Contessa, Marquis, Monterey, and Patriot. These vehicles were manufactured between January 22, 2008, and October 27, 2009.
The recall addresses a defect in the Kongsberg Power Products Systems adjustable brake pedals. The drive pin that secures the brake pedal arm to the balance of the assembly may become disengaged. This failure may cause a reduction in vehicle braking and/or cause the brake pedal to move out of position, potentially interfering with throttle pedal function. A reduction in braking or interference with the throttle pedal could result in a vehicle crash.
Navistar is working with Kongsberg to address this issue. Owners should contact Navistar to schedule a free inspection and installation of a C-clamp on the adjustable brake pedal. The recall began on February 4, 2010. Owners may contact Navistar at 1-800-685-6545 or the NHTSA Vehicle Safety Hotline at 1-888-327-4236.
