Kustom Fit, a division of Villa Furniture Mfg Co. Inc., is recalling certain swivel pedestals (P/N 3429) that were sold and installed in General Motors Chevrolet Class B vans. The recall involves a support bracket retainer plate (P/N 16393) that was not welded to the rear underside of the swivel top plate. As a result, the swivel pedestals do not conform to Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard Nos. 207 (Seating Systems) and 210 (Seat Belt Assembly Anchorages).

The defect may cause the swivel pedestals to fail in the event of a crash, which increases the risk of injury to the seat occupant. The safety recall began on September 21, 2010.

Kustom Fit is working with van converters to notify owners of the affected vehicles. The swivel pedestals will be repaired free of charge by authorized van converters, dealers, and service centers.
