What this means for you
Real risk of harm even if no illness or injury has been reported yet. Stop using the product and follow the agency's guidance.
Our severity reasoning: The recall involves a structural vehicle defect where a seat component may separate, creating a risk of injury in a crash. This aligns with the rubric for 'High' severity, which covers risk-of-harm products where injury has not yet been reported.
Plain-English summary
Seats Incorporated is recalling certain ABTS 6-way seats, part number 314313. The recall addresses a defect where poor weld penetration in the motor mount for the front vertical adjustment may cause the mount to separate and the riser to come out of position. This can result in the seat moving unexpectedly and failing to comply with Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard (FMVSS) number 207, "Seating Systems."
In the event of a forward impact crash, the front vertical adjustment may inadvertently adjust, which increases the risk of injury to the occupant. The recall began on July 15, 2019.
Dealers will replace the affected seats free of charge. Owners may contact Seats Incorporated customer service at 1-800-767-3287 or the NHTSA Vehicle Safety Hotline at 1-888-327-4236 (TTY 1-800-424-9153) for more information.
