The recall involves sandals with "Abstract Bright," "Abstract Pink," or "Frog Blue" straps and black footbeds. The bottom of the sole is marked with a star pattern and the words "Teva" and "made in U.S.A."
The hazard is that the straps attached to the footbed can come apart, which can cause falls. Deckers is aware of one incident where a 2-year-old fell when a sandal came apart, resulting in injuries to the child's lip, gum, and tooth.
These sandals were sold in sizes 2/3 through 8/9 for children aged 6 months to 4 years. They were sold nationwide at shoe retailers from December 1997 through August 1998 for about $25. Consumers should stop using these sandals immediately and contact Deckers at (800) 781-9928 to obtain a refund.
