The recalled adapters are black, measure approximately 2 by 4 ½ inches, and have three hollow pins in the recessed male connector. They must also have part number 217984-001 on the bar code label located on the bottom of the adapter. Adapters with the same part number but solid pins are not included in the recall. The Armada 4100 notebook computer itself is not recalled.

The adapters were sold worldwide from September 23, 1996, through November 20, 1996, through commercial dealers or directly by Compaq. CPSC and Compaq are not aware of any injuries involving these adapters. Consumers should unplug and stop using the recalled AC adapters immediately.
