Kids II is recalling Graduate Booster Seats because the seat may slide out of the base, posing a fall risk to children.
What this means for you
Real risk of harm even if no illness or injury has been reported yet. Stop using the product and follow the agency's guidance.
Our severity reasoning: The recall involves a risk-of-harm product (booster seat) where minor injuries (bumps, cuts, bruises) have been reported, but no serious injuries or fatalities are mentioned, fitting the 'High' severity criteria for risk-of-harm products with reported but non-severe injury.
Plain-English summary
Kids II (formerly Pansy Ellen Products) is voluntarily recalling approximately 680,000 "Graduate Booster Seats," model #415, sold in retail stores nationwide from 1987 through 1991. The affected seats feature a blue base and a white plastic seat that fits into four slotted positions. The back of the base is labeled in part: "THE GRADUATE* Pansy Ellen."
The recall is due to a defect where the white seat component may slide out of the slot or fall from its position due to inadequate engagement with the base. Kids II is aware of more than 400 incidents of this failure, which have resulted in minor injuries including bumps, cuts, and bruises to children.
Consumers should examine their booster seats to ensure the white seat fits securely into the slots of the blue base. If the seat does not fit securely, consumers should immediately discontinue use. They can obtain a $5.00 partial refund by sending the white seat to Kids II, Inc., at 1245 Old Alpharetta Road, Alpharetta, GA 30202. Questions can be directed to Kids II at (678) 867-0761.
