Roman Stuffed Lamb Toys Recalled Due to Detachable Plastic Tears
Roman, Inc. is recalling approximately 7,000 stuffed lamb toys because small plastic tears can detach and be swallowed by children.
What this means for you
Real risk of harm even if no illness or injury has been reported yet. Stop using the product and follow the agency's guidance.
Our severity reasoning: The recall involves a choking/ingestion hazard for children (small parts) where no injuries have been reported, which aligns with the rubric for risk-of-harm products where injury has not yet been reported.
Plain-English summary
Roman, Inc. is issuing a voluntary warning to remove small plastic tears from certain stuffed lamb toys in cooperation with the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC). The company imported approximately 7,000 of these beige and white lambs from Korea, which were sold nationwide during 1989 for approximately $13 each. The lambs stand 8-1/2 inches tall and feature a circular pin that reads "Jesus make me new again!".
The recall is being conducted because a small clear plastic tear attached beneath the left eye of each lamb can be easily pulled off and ingested by children. This poses a choking or ingestion hazard. The potentially hazardous lambs were identified at the Port of Chicago during a joint CPSC/U.S. Customs Service surveillance program.
Neither the CPSC nor Roman, Inc. is aware of any injuries involving this product. Consumers are urged to remove and throw away the small plastic tear to prevent the possibility of injury.
