Plain-English summary
Toyo Industrial, in cooperation with the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission, is recalling more than one million "string-to-string" miniature Christmas light sets. The affected sets feature a female connector imprinted with "TOYO" and "TP-6" at the end of the light string. These specific connectors are found on some sets of 35, 50, 70, and 100 lights.
The recall is due to a potential shock or electrocution hazard. The metal contacts inside the female connector can be pulled or pushed out when plugging and unplugging the light strings. If these contacts become exposed, they could present a shock or electrocution risk to consumers. No injuries have been reported in connection with this recall.
The affected light sets were sold nationwide at retail stores including Big Lot, Eckerd, Kmart, Odd Lot, Revco, and Walmart. Consumers should unplug all Christmas light sets from the wall before taking them down to prevent possible shock hazards. They should then check the female connectors on their light strings for the "TOYO" and "TP-6" markings. Consumers with affected sets should call Toyo toll-free at 1-800-545-8330 from 8:00 a.m. to 5 p.m. Pacific Standard Time to obtain a free shipping container to return the lights for repair or replacement.
