Electra-Plastics, Inc., of Newark, New Jersey, is recalling the Romper Room Animal Train, model number H732R, in cooperation with the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC). The recall is due to three small blue and white balls, approximately 1 1/8 inches in diameter, located in the engine and cars of the train. These balls can be easily detached and are considered small parts that present a choking hazard to children.

The plastic train is approximately 11 1/4 inches long and features an orange engine, a green car with two tigers, and a purple car with two elephants. The hazard was brought to the attention of the CPSC by officials in the state of Kentucky's Cabinet for Human Resources. Neither Electra-Plastics nor the CPSC is aware of any injuries involving this toy.

Approximately 5,600 trains were sold for approximately $2.40 since June 1985, primarily at Pathmark and Rite-Aid stores in states east of the Mississippi River. Consumers should take the trains away from children immediately and either discard them or return them to the retail store where purchased for a refund.
