Real risk of harm even if no illness or injury has been reported yet. Stop using the product and follow the agency's guidance.
Our severity reasoning: The recall involves a choking hazard from small parts in a toy intended for young children, which fits the rubric criterion for risk-of-harm products where injury has not yet been reported.
Plain-English summary
Christmas Tree Shops Inc. is voluntarily recalling approximately 12,000 "Engineering Truck" educational toys in cooperation with the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC). The wooden toys, which measure approximately 6 inches long and 2 inches wide, feature a front cab with a small, peg-shaped "driver" figure. This small part may break off during use, presenting a potential choking hazard to young children.
The State of Connecticut identified the small parts hazard. The toys were sold in New England from April 1994 through March 1996 for $1 each. The trucks were packaged in small blue and white cardboard boxes with the SKU number "000011 34416 2" and labeled "MADE IN CHINA." CPSC is not aware of any injuries involving this toy, and the recall is being conducted to prevent the possibility of injury.
Consumers should take the truck away from young children immediately and return the toy to the store where purchased or the nearest Christmas Tree Shop. For more information, consumers can call Christmas Tree Shop at (800) 876-9677.
