The U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) and Century Products, Inc. announced a repair program for two models of Super Coupe baby walkers: No. 8209 and No. 8210. These units were produced between September and November 1982. The walkers feature a seat height adjustment with 20 settings. When set in the low to middle ranges, applying force in excess of 20 pounds can cause the walker to collapse.
The CPSC is aware of at least six instances of walker collapse, which resulted in two lacerations. The collapse can cause an infant to fall to the floor and pinch or lacerate their fingers as the unit folds up. Century Products provided repair kits to retailers to fix units before sale, but the repair kit is no longer available.
Consumers should check the underside of the walker's plastic tray for stickers with model numbers 8209 or 8210. If these stickers are present, the repair may not have been made. Consumers owning these specific models should discard or destroy the product. Units with other model numbers are not affected.
