The recall involves 10-cup, stainless-steel percolators manufactured between August 1979 and April 1980. The hazard exists because the thermoplastic insulation around the electrical wiring to the signal light may deteriorate, potentially allowing bare wiring to conduct electrical current through the metal parts of the coffee pot.

The affected units were sold nationwide for approximately $35 to $45 by Montgomery Wards, Sears Roebuck and Co., and other retail stores. Regal-branded units carry model number K7591, while units sold under the JCPenney label carry model number 784-3071. Both types display an eight-digit date code on the bottom of the plastic base within the range 08017911 through 04308011. Repaired units in the distribution chain have an underlined date code and the letter "R" stamped on the package flap. No reports of shock have been received by the company or CPSC.

Consumers may have their pots repaired free-of-charge by mailing them to the nearest Regal Service Center, with postage costs reimbursed.
