To address the issue, Bernina is providing a free, easy-to-install kit containing a thermally activated switch to replace the existing switch in the Type 213 black foot pedals. Pedals stamped with a blue "T" already contain the necessary switch and are not affected.

Owners of these sewing machines will be notified directly by the company via letter. Consumers are urged to unplug the machine when not in use and avoid placing foreign objects on or near the foot pedal as a safety precaution.
