Can-Am Outlander Pro and Max Pro All-Terrain Vehicles Speed Limiter Malfunction

BRP US Inc. recalls about 2,820 Can-Am Outlander Pro and Max Pro ATVs with defective Speed Limiter Mode that can cause unexpected speed and acceleration, posing a risk of serious injury or death from crashes.

What this means for you

Illness, injury, or structural failure has been reported. Stop using the product immediately and contact the manufacturer for a refund or repair.

Our severity reasoning: The source text explicitly states a risk of "serious injury and death from crash hazard" and documents at least one reported injury (scrapes and bruises from an ATV flip caused by the defect). A vehicle recall involving a structural or control defect that poses documented risk of serious injury meets the Severe (4) threshold.

Plain-English summary

BRP US Inc., of Sturtevant, Wisconsin, is recalling approximately 2,820 model years 2023–2026 Can-Am Outlander Pro and Max Pro all-terrain vehicles equipped with Speed Limiter Mode. These ATVs were sold through authorized Can-Am Off-Road dealers from March 2023 through April 2026.

The speed limiter control can malfunction, causing unexpected speed and acceleration that poses a serious risk of injury or death from crash hazard. BRP has received one report of a speed limiter failure that caused sudden acceleration and flipped an ATV, resulting in scrapes and bruises to the rider.
