Bombardier Recreational Products (BRP) is recalling approximately 12,500 model year 2008 through 2015 Can-Am Mini DS all-terrain vehicles (ATVs). The recalled vehicles are youth models with 70 cubic centimeter and 90 cubic centimeter engines, sold in black and yellow. The vehicles were sold at Can-Am dealers nationwide from July 2007 through January 2015 for between $1,800 and $2,800.

The recall is issued because the ATVs fail to meet the performance requirements of the federal ATV standard. Specifically, model year 2008 through 2014 DS 70 ATVs fail to meet requirements pertaining to the unrestricted maximum speed of the vehicle. Additionally, model year 2008 through 2015 DS 70 and DS 90 ATVs fail to meet requirements pertaining to parking brakes. These violations pose a crash hazard. No injuries have been reported.

Consumers should immediately stop using the recalled ATVs and contact a BRP dealer to schedule a free repair. BRP is notifying registered consumers directly.
