SDI, 2007 Skandic SWT V-800, 2008 Skandic SUV 600 HO SDI, 2008 Skandic SWT V-800, 2009 Skandic SWT V-800, and 2010 Skandic SWT V-800. These vehicles were sold at Ski-Doo dealers nationwide from March 2004 through March 2010 for between $9,000 and $10,000.
The hazard exists because electrostatic changes can accumulate and spark in the fuel tank when the engine is left idling. This poses an explosion hazard that could result in serious injuries or death. The firm has received three reports of explosions, one of which involved minor burns to the face and hands.
Consumers should stop using these vehicles immediately and contact any Ski-Doo dealer to schedule an appointment for a free repair. Registered owners have been directly notified about this recall by mail. All models already repaired under previous recalls due to laceration hazard from projectiles, fire hazard, or explosion must be repaired again.
