Polaris Recalls 2024 Ranger and Bobcat Off-Road Vehicles for Seat Belt Defect

Polaris recalled about 2,500 Model Year 2024 Ranger and Bobcat vehicles with a defective passenger side seat belt anchor weld. Consumers should immediately stop carrying passengers and contact an authorized dealer for free repair.

What this means for you

Real risk of harm even if no illness or injury has been reported yet. Stop using the product and follow the agency's guidance.

Our severity reasoning: This recall meets the High severity criteria as a 'risk-of-harm product where injury has not yet been reported.' The defective weld on the seat belt anchor bracket poses a genuine risk of serious injury (seatbelt failure or impact from a loose bracket during a crash), but the manufacturer has reported no injuries to date.

Plain-English summary

This recall involves approximately 2,500 Model Year 2024 Polaris Ranger recreational off-road vehicles (ROVs) in multiple models, as well as ProXD and Bobcat utility task vehicles (UTVs). The recalled vehicles have a defective weld on the passenger side seat belt anchor bracket that can separate from the frame during use or in a crash. This defect creates a risk that the seat belt could fail or a loose bracket could strike a passenger during a collision.

The affected vehicles were sold by Polaris and Bobcat dealers nationwide between November 2023 and August 2024, with prices ranging from $17,800 to $32,700. The defect affects specific vehicle identification numbers (VINs). Consumers can check their VIN at the Polaris website or by contacting the manufacturer. About 130 additional vehicles were sold in Canada.

Polaris is contacting all registered owners directly. Consumers should immediately stop carrying passengers in the recalled vehicles. Owners should contact an authorized Polaris dealer to schedule a free inspection and free repair of the seat belt anchor weld. For Ranger and ProXD vehicles, contact Polaris at 800-765-2747 (7 a.m. to 7 p.m. CT, Monday-Friday) or via [email protected]. For Bobcat vehicles, contact Bobcat at 800-743-4340 (7 a.m. to 5 p.m. CT, Monday-Friday) or www.bobcat.com. No injuries have been reported in connection with this defect.
