RIDGID 18V Brushless Framing Nailers Recalled Due to Laceration Hazard
TTI Consumer Power Tools is recalling about 64,000 RIDGID 18V Brushless Framing Nailers due to a malfunction in the dual action engagement system that can cause involuntary nail discharge, posing a laceration hazard.
What this means for you
Real risk of harm even if no illness or injury has been reported yet. Stop using the product and follow the agency's guidance.
Our severity reasoning: The source explicitly states no injuries have been reported. However, an involuntary discharge function on a power tool poses a clear risk of serious laceration injury. Per the rubric, this is a 'risk-of-harm product where injury has not yet been reported,' resulting in a Score 3 (High) severity.
Plain-English summary
TTI Consumer Power Tools is recalling the RIDGID 18Volt Brushless 21-Degree and 30-Degree Framing Nailers. The nailers' dual action engagement system can malfunction, allowing the trigger to discharge a nail without requiring the work piece contact element (nose-piece) to be depressed. This creates a laceration hazard to consumers.
Approximately 64,000 units were sold in the United States between July 2021 and May 2025 through Home Depot and Direct Tools Factory Outlet stores nationwide, as well as online at www.homedepot.com and www.directtoolsoutlet.com, at prices between $329 and $389. An additional 6,575 units were sold in Canada. Affected models are R09894 (21-Degree, serial numbers CS21146D220001–CS24165N220001) and R09895 (30-Degree, serial numbers CS21275D220001–CS24165N220001). Only nailers without a black ink mark or punched hole next to the serial number on the data plate are included in the recall.
Consumers should immediately stop using the recalled nailers. Owners can visit powertools.ridgid.com/recall to confirm whether their nailer is affected and obtain repair instructions. The repair service is free; consumers can contact TTI Consumer Power Tools at 800-597-9624 (Monday–Friday, 9 a.m.–5 p.m. ET) or visit the website for a prepaid return shipping label. TTI will update the nailer software and return the repaired unit at no charge.
