Vibe Bear Playyard Mattresses Recalled for Suffocation Hazard

Plain-English summary

Beyond Baby Vibe Bear-branded portable playyard mattresses manufactured on or after August 15, 2022 are being recalled. The recalled mattresses are white with diagonal quilting and printed graphics of green and yellow trees, houses, and foxes. They measure about 38 inches long by 26 inches wide by 3 inches high and have a dark blue hanging tag with a cartoon teddy bear. Model number YXB17 appears on a tag at the edge of the mattress along with the date of manufacture.

These mattresses violate multiple provisions of the federal Safety Standard for Crib Mattresses, including firmness and thickness test requirements and missing required warnings and labels. As a result, the mattresses pose a suffocation hazard to infants.

About 820 mattresses were sold exclusively on Amazon.com from January 2023 through June 2023 for about $34 each. The manufacturer and distributor is Beyond Baby, of China. No injuries have been reported.

Consumers should immediately stop using the mattresses and destroy them by cutting them in half. Purchasers should contact Beyond Baby at [email protected] and send photos of the destroyed mattresses to receive a full refund. Beyond Baby and Amazon are contacting purchasers directly.
