Polaris Sportsman ATVs Recalled for Fuel Leak Fire Hazard
Polaris is recalling certain Model Year 2023–2024 Sportsman 850, XP 1000, and XP 1000 S ATVs because fuel can leak at the fuel pump outlet, creating a fire hazard. The company has received 14 reports of fuel leaks and 3 reports of fire, with no injuries reported.
What this means for you
Real risk of harm even if no illness or injury has been reported yet. Stop using the product and follow the agency's guidance.
Our severity reasoning: The recall involves a risk-of-harm product (fire hazard from fuel leak) where actual incidents—14 fuel leaks and 3 fires—have been documented. Although no injuries have been reported, the hazard is neither purely theoretical nor low-risk. This meets the High-severity threshold for a documented risk-of-harm scenario with actual events reported.
