What this means for you

Real risk of harm even if no illness or injury has been reported yet. Stop using the product and follow the agency's guidance.

Our severity reasoning: The source reports 26 incidents including skin burns, respiratory irritation, and one asthma trigger, demonstrating actual reported injuries from a chemical hazard (acrylates in prohibited amounts). This meets the High threshold for products with reported injury/harm even though no hospitalization is documented.

Plain-English summary

MGA Entertainment, of Chatsworth, California, is recalling about 21 million Miniverse Make It Mini Sets with unused liquid resins. The sets include Make It Mini Appliances, Make It Mini Food (all models and series), and Make It Mini Lifestyle products. Most sets consist of a sphere containing materials to assemble miniature imitation appliances, food, or lifestyle items. The sets were sold nationwide at Target, Walmart, Family Dollar, Dollar General, ALDI, Hobby Lobby, and online at Amazon.com, shop.mgae.com, Target.com, Walmart.com and other sites from October 2022 through June 2024, priced between $7 and $13 for individual sphere sets, or $14 to $52 for boxed sets depending on the model.

The recalled sets contain resins that, when liquid, can cause skin, eye, and respiratory irritation or sensitization when inhaled, touched, or ingested by children or adults. The resins contain acrylates (hydroxyethylmethacrylate "HEMA" and isobornyl acrylate "IBOA") in amounts prohibited in children's products by the Federal Hazardous Substances Act. After the resins cure, they no longer present this hazard. MGA has received 26 reports of incidents including skin burns and irritation, respiratory irritation, and one report that a consumer's asthma was triggered.

Consumers should immediately stop using any units with unused resins. Contact MGA to receive a pre-paid label to return either the entire unopened product or the unused resins with a photograph of the product if opened. Consumers will receive a full refund or replacement product, at their choice.
