Cra-Z-Art Gemex and Gel2Gem Jewelry Kits Recalled for Chemical Irritation Risk

The recalled products include 10 models of Cra-Z-Art Gemex and Gel2Gem jewelry-making kits sold under brand names including Disney Minnie, Disney Princess, Disney Frozen, Disney Little Mermaid, My Look, and Shimmer N Sparkle. The kits contain a resin bottle and UV setting light to cure the resin. Approximately 224,100 units were distributed.

The resin in these kits, when liquid, can cause skin, eye, and respiratory irritation or sensitization when inhaled, touched, or ingested. The resin contains an acrylate (HEMA - hydroxyethylmethacrylate) in amounts prohibited in children's products by the Federal Hazardous Substances Act. Once the resin has cured completely, it no longer presents a hazard.

The kits were sold at Target, Marshall's, T.J. Maxx, Joann stores, and online at Amazon.com, Target.com, Walmart.com, and Joann.com from January 2023 through September 2024, priced between $13 and $36 depending on the kit.
