JBM International Adult Bike Helmets Recalled for Head Injury Risk

Plain-English summary

JBM International Electric Ltd. is recalling adult bike helmets labeled as "free size" (fitting head circumferences of about 22 ¾ to 24 ¼ inches) sold online through Amazon.com between March 2022 and January 2023. About 5,300 units are affected. The helmets were sold in multiple color combinations and are marked with "JBM" branding and batch code JPG-89 on an interior label. Affected models are JBM-A51, JBM-A53, JBM-A96, JBM-A97, JBM-A98, JBM-A99, JBM-A100, JBM-A101, JBM-A252, JBM-A253, JBM-A254, and JBM-A255 with production date 202110.

The recalled helmets do not comply with the positional stability, labeling, and certification requirements of the U.S. CPSC federal safety standard for bicycle helmets. As a result, they can fail to protect the head in the event of a crash, posing a risk of head injury. No injuries have been reported.

Consumers should immediately stop using the recalled helmets. To obtain a refund, consumers should contact JBM International by email at [email protected] or through the JBM International page on Amazon.com. The company is contacting all known purchasers directly. Consumers are instructed to destroy the helmet by cutting off the straps, email a photo of the damaged helmet to [email protected] as proof of destruction, and then dispose of it.
