Bell Sports Inc. is recalling about 31,200 Axle, Cadence, Rev, Frenzy and Passage model bicycle helmets (model numbers B0494Y, B0605C, and B0605Y) sold nationwide and online from September 2024 through May 2025. The helmets do not comply with the Consumer Product Safety Commission's mandatory federal safety standard for bicycle helmet impact protection and can fail to protect the user in the event of a crash, posing a risk of head injury.
The recalled helmets were sold at Walmart, Target, Academy Sports + Outdoors, Amazon.com, FredMeyer.com, Academy.com, and Target.com for approximately $20. The model name, model number, and manufacture date in MM/YY or M/YY format can be found on a sticker inside the helmet.
Consumers should stop using the recalled helmets immediately. To obtain a refund, consumers should contact Bell Sports at 800-456-2355 (Monday–Friday, 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. CT), [email protected], or visit thebellgarage.com. Consumers must destroy the recalled helmet by cutting off the straps and can upload photos of the destroyed helmet to [email protected] to claim their refund. Bell Sports is contacting all known purchasers directly.
