Jacuzzi and Sundance Hot Tubs Recalled for Thermal Burn Hazards

Sundance Spas is recalling certain Jacuzzi and Sundance brand hot tubs because the temperature sensor may relay incorrect water temperatures, causing water hotter than the set temperature and posing burn and heat stroke hazards. No injuries have been reported.

Sundance Spas Inc., which does business as Jacuzzi Hot Tubs, is recalling about 23,700 Jacuzzi J-200, J-300, J-400, and J-500 collection hot tubs and Sundance Spas 680, 780, 880, and 980 Series spas sold nationwide through authorized dealers from July 2021 through December 2022 for between $6,500 and $30,000.

The temperature sensor in these hot tubs can relay incorrect water temperatures and cause the water to be hotter than the set temperature, posing injury (heat stroke) and thermal burn hazards. Sundance Spas has received 185 reports of inaccurate temperature readings, though no injuries have been reported.

Consumers should use an accurate external thermometer to confirm the water temperature is no higher than 104 degrees before entering the hot tub. Do not enter the hot tub if the external thermometer reads higher than 104 degrees. Contact a local authorized Jacuzzi or Sundance Spas dealer to schedule a free repair.
