Cordless Window Shades Battery Packs Recalled for Fire Hazard
About 56,000 lithium-ion battery packs used in cordless window blinds are being recalled because they can overheat and pose a fire hazard. The firm has received reports of overheating and one fire in a commercial warehouse, though no consumer injuries have been reported.
What this means for you
Real risk of harm even if no illness or injury has been reported yet. Stop using the product and follow the agency's guidance.
Our severity reasoning: This is a High severity recall because it involves a risk-of-harm product (fire hazard from battery overheating) where injury has not yet been reported to consumers, even though there are incident reports of overheating and one commercial warehouse fire. The absence of reported consumer injuries and the fact that this is a CPSC recall (not FDA Class I/II or USDA Class I) places it at severity level 3.
