The recall involves approximately 3,400 units sold in the United States, with an additional 240 sold in Canada. The affected battery packs are black or white, hexagon-shaped, and feature four blue LED lights and a power button. Only HEOS 1 Go Packs with a 10-character alphanumeric serial number beginning with 5 or 601G91 and ending with 3517 through 4004 are included in this recall. The model and serial numbers are printed on the bottom of the base.

The battery packs can overheat, which poses a fire and burn hazard. No injuries or property damage have been reported in connection with this recall. The products were manufactured in China and sold at Best Buy (Magnolia), Brookstone, and online at BestBuy.com and Amazon.com from May 2015 through June 2016 for approximately $100.
