Trek Bicycle Corporation is recalling approximately 368,000 Bontrager Satellite City bicycle pedals in the United States and about 33,540 in Canada. These pedals were installed as original equipment on specific Trek bicycle models, including the Allant+, Dual Sport+, FX 2, FX 3, FX4, Verve 2, Verve 3, and Verve+. The pedals were sold at Trek Bicycle stores, other bicycle stores nationwide, and online at trekbikes.com from January 2018 through April 2021. They can also be identified by the "ZTR02" stamp and orange reflectors on the outside edges.

The recall is being issued because the pedals can be incorrectly installed by retailers during assembly. If installed incorrectly, the pedals can loosen, lock up, or fall off the crank arm of the bicycle. This poses fall and injury hazards to the rider. Trek has received 132 reports of the pedals loosening, locking up, or falling off. This includes seven reports of riders falling and experiencing injuries, such as scrapes, bruises, and road rash.
