Plain-English summary
CFMOTO Powersports Inc. is recalling approximately 627 units of the 2020 and 2021 ZFORCE 950 Sport Recreational Off-Highway Vehicles (ROVs). These vehicles are equipped with a 963cc 4-cycle engine and are available in red, silver, or gray with the CFMOTO logo on the front grille. The 2020 model year vehicles have the letter 'L' in the 10th position of the VIN, while 2021 models have the letter 'M' in the 10th position. The VIN is stamped on the right-side frame rail, behind the right rear tire.
The recall is due to a defect where the throttle gas pedal can fail to return quickly to the idle position. This malfunction can cause the vehicle to not slow down as quickly as expected when the gas pedal is released, creating a crash hazard. CFMOTO has received two reports of the throttle pedal assembly malfunctioning, but no injuries have been reported.
The affected vehicles were sold at CFMOTO dealers nationwide from June 2020 through September 2020 for approximately $13,000. Consumers should immediately stop using the recalled ROVs and contact a CFMOTO dealer to schedule a free repair. CFMOTO is contacting all registered owners and dealers directly. For more information, consumers can contact CFMOTO toll-free at 888-823-6686 from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. CT, Monday through Friday, or visit www.cfmotousa.com.
