What this means for you

Real risk of harm even if no illness or injury has been reported yet. Stop using the product and follow the agency's guidance.

Our severity reasoning: The recall involves a risk-of-harm product (crash hazard) where no injuries have been reported, which aligns with the 'High' severity criteria in the rubric.

Plain-English summary

CFMOTO is recalling approximately 1,800 units of 2018 ZFORCE 500 Trail, 2018 ZFORCE 800 Trail, and 2018 ZFORCE 1000 SSV recreational off-highway vehicles (ROVs). These vehicles are equipped with 500cc to 1000cc, 4-cycle engines and were sold in orange, blue, red, and gray. The recall is due to a defect where the throttle pedal can be pushed past the throttle stop and fail to return to the idle position, which poses a crash hazard.

The affected vehicles were sold by CFMOTO dealers nationwide from January 2018 through July 2018 for between $9,000 and $14,000. The vehicles were imported by CFMOTO Powersports Inc. of Plymouth, Minnesota, and manufactured by Zhejiang CFMOTO Power Co. Ltd. of China. No injuries have been reported in connection with this defect.

Consumers should immediately stop using the recalled ROVs and contact a CFMOTO dealer to schedule a free repair. CFMOTO is also contacting all registered owners directly.
