CFMOTO is recalling 2020 ZFORCE 950 Sport vehicles because a fuel line fitting may fail to lock, causing fuel leaks and fire.
What this means for you
Illness, injury, or structural failure has been reported. Stop using the product immediately and contact the manufacturer for a refund or repair.
Our severity reasoning: The recall involves a fire hazard with one reported vehicle engine fire, which aligns with the rubric criterion for 'significant injury/property-damage reports' or structural defects leading to severe outcomes.
Plain-English summary
CFMOTO Powersports Inc. is recalling approximately 500 units of the 2020 ZFORCE 950 Sport Recreational Off-Highway Vehicles (ROVs). These vehicles are equipped with a 963cc 4-cycle engine and were sold in red or gray colors. The model year 2020 vehicles have the letter "L" in the 10th position of the Vehicle Identification Number (VIN), which is stamped on the right side frame rail behind the right rear tire.
The recall is due to a defect where the fuel line fitting can fail to securely lock onto the fuel injector inlet. This failure allows fuel to spill onto hot engine parts, which can ignite and pose a fire hazard. CFMOTO has received two reports of the fuel injector connection not being fully secure, resulting in fuel leaks. One of these incidents caused a vehicle engine fire, though no injuries have been reported.
The affected vehicles were sold at CFMOTO dealers nationwide from June 2020 through August 2020 for approximately $13,000. Consumers should immediately stop using the recalled vehicles and contact a CFMOTO dealer to schedule a free repair. CFMOTO is also contacting registered owners and dealers directly. For more information, consumers can call CFMOTO toll-free at 888-823-6686 from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. CT, Monday through Friday, or visit www.cfmotousa.com.
