What this means for you

Real risk of harm even if no illness or injury has been reported yet. Stop using the product and follow the agency's guidance.

Plain-English summary

Polaris Industries Inc. is recalling approximately 340 Model Year 2017-2018 Brutus utility vehicles (UTVs) sold in the United States, with an additional 19 units sold in Canada. The affected vehicles are two-seated and available in gray, black, and blue. They feature "POLARIS" on the front grille, "POLARIS BRUTUS" on the sides of the utility bed, and "DIESEL HD" on the front fenders. The specific model names included in this recall are BRUTUS DSL HD PTO DLX and BRUTUS DSL HD PTO for 2017, and BRUTUS DSL HD PTO DLX for 2018. Vehicle identification numbers (VINs) ending in 7740364 to 8576615 are affected, and the VIN can be found on a label in the left front wheel well.

The recall is due to a defect where the rear brake line can become punctured, causing the brakes to fail. This poses a collision and crash hazard. Polaris has received one report of the rear brake line rupturing while in use, but no collisions, crashes, injuries, or deaths have been reported.

Consumers should immediately stop using the recalled vehicles and contact a Polaris dealer to schedule a free inspection and repair.
