Plain-English summary
Polaris Industries Inc. is recalling approximately 2,800 model year 2018 through 2020 Phoenix 200 all-terrain vehicles (ATVs) in the United States. An additional 245 units were sold in Canada. The ATVs were sold at Polaris dealers nationwide from November 2017 through April 2020 for between $3,800 and $4,200. The vehicles are gray and feature "Polaris" decals on the front body and seat sides, with "Phoenix 200" on the side panels. The Vehicle Identification Number (VIN) is located on the vehicle's front left frame.
The recall is due to a crash hazard where the throttle lever stop can fail due to damage sustained during shipping. Polaris has received five consumer reports regarding this issue: four reports of the throttle stop breaking and one report of the throttle stop sticking. The company has reported no injuries associated with this defect.
Consumers should immediately stop using the recalled vehicles and contact a Polaris dealer to schedule a free inspection and, if needed, a free repair. Polaris is notifying dealers and contacting registered owners directly.
