Plain-English summary
Deere & Company is recalling approximately 5,700 John Deere 4044R, 4052R, and 4066R compact utility tractors sold in the United States. The recall also includes about 1,650 units sold in Canada. These tractors were sold at John Deere dealers nationwide from October 2016 through September 2019 for between $40,000 and $50,000.
The recall is due to a manufacturing defect where front cab support bolts were torqued improperly. These bolts can fail during a rollover, which poses a crushing injury hazard to the operator. No injuries have been reported in connection with this defect.
Consumers should immediately stop using the recalled tractors and contact an authorized John Deere dealer for a free repair. John Deere is contacting all known purchasers directly. To verify if a tractor is affected, check the 17-digit serial number located on the right side of the frame above the front axle. Affected serial numbers begin with "1LV" and fall within specific ranges: 400284-401619 for the 4044R, 400381-403424 for the 4052R, and 401588-407220 for the 4066R.
