The recall is due to a burn hazard. The tape used to contain wire components within the lamp's case housing can overheat and melt. Advantus has received one report of smoke emerging from the lamp's case housing. No injuries have been reported.
The lamps were sold through catalogs, independent office product dealers, and internet resellers by Staples and Essendant. They were also sold online at Walmart.com and Lowes.com from February 2020 through July 2020 for about $136. The lamps were manufactured in China.
