What this means for you

Real risk of harm even if no illness or injury has been reported yet. Stop using the product and follow the agency's guidance.

Our severity reasoning: The recall involves a risk-of-harm product where injury has been reported (one injury from impact), fitting the High severity criterion for products with reported injury but no fatalities or severe structural defects.

Plain-English summary

Lithonia Lighting, a division of Acuity Brands Lighting Inc., is recalling metal CFMK H-Brackets used to surface mount CPANL LED fixtures. The brackets can fail to securely hold the fixtures, causing the LEDs to come loose or fall unexpectedly, which poses a risk of injury from impact.

The firm has received 24 reports of CPANL LEDs coming loose or falling from the CFMK Bracket, resulting in one injury. About 318,500 units were sold in the United States, and an additional 11,600 were sold in Canada. The brackets were sold as an optional accessory with 1x4, 2x4, and 2x2 CPANLs at Lowe's and other home improvement stores from August 2018 through June 2020, and as a separate accessory through commercial electrical distributors from January 2019 through June 2020.

Consumers should immediately stop using CPANL LEDs surface mounted with a CFMK Bracket and prevent people from going into the immediate area under the fixtures until the brackets are repaired. Consumers should contact Lithonia Lighting for a free CFMK Bracket repair kit.
