The trivets, which attach to the bottom of hot metal cookware, contain four magnets encased in silicone and are available in copper, burgundy, blue, and black colors. The products were sold by QVC from October 2017 through October 2018.

The recall is due to a hazard where magnets can detach from the trivets and be swallowed by children. When two or more magnets are ingested, they can link together inside the intestines, clamping onto body tissues and causing intestinal obstructions, perforations, sepsis, and death. Tristar Products has received one report of a child swallowing detached magnets, resulting in intestinal perforations and blockage that required surgery.

Consumers should immediately stop using the trivets and place them out of the reach of children. Tristar Products is contacting purchasers directly to provide instructions for receiving free replacement trivets.
