Plain-English summary
Flos Inc. is recalling approximately 4,000 Flos Romeo Moon model S2 and Romeo Louis II model S2 pendant light fixtures. The recall is due to a hazard where the internal glass diffuser can detach and fall, posing an impact injury risk to consumers.
The affected lamps have an internal glass diffuser covered by a flared glass or crystal shade that suspends from the ceiling by steel wires. Consumers can identify if their lamp is part of the recall by examining the underside of the ring holding the glass diffuser; if this piece is made of plastic only, the lamp is included in the recall. The model number is printed on a label on the shade.
These fixtures were sold at Design Within Reach, Lumens, Ylighting, and other lighting stores, as well as online at Flos.com, from January 1996 through December 2006. The lamps were sold for between $800 and $1,900. No injuries have been reported.
Consumers should avoid walking under the fixtures until they are repaired. They should contact Flos or the place of purchase to obtain a free repair kit, which can be installed by the consumer. Flos can be reached toll-free at 888-952-9541 from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. ET Monday through Friday, by email at [email protected], or online at www.flos.com.
