Ecovent Recalls Room Sensors Due to Electrical Shock Hazard

These devices plug into an electrical outlet to measure room temperature, humidity, and barometric pressure, and they also provide electrical outlets and USB ports. The affected units have date numbers 4415-5215 and 0116-0916 printed on a label on the back of the device.

The recall is being issued because the cover of the room sensor can come off during normal use. This exposes high-voltage components, creating an electrical shock hazard. Ecovent has received two incident reports of the faceplate falling off, but no injuries have been reported.

The recalled room sensors were sold online at www.ecoventsystems.com from December 2015 through April 2016 for between $100 and $150. Consumers should immediately stop using the recalled units. Ecovent has contacted consumers via email and phone notifications, sent replacement parts, and provided return postage for affected parts.
