The recall is due to a hazard where the power cord insulation on the electric air pump can crack when exposed to severely cold temperatures and impact, such as during shipping. This cracking can create a short-circuit or expose live electrical wires, presenting a shock or electrocution hazard. Select Comfort has received two reports of cords cracking, but no injuries or property damage have been reported.

Consumers should unplug the pump from the electrical outlet before inspecting the power cord. If the wire insulation shows any sign of cracking, the pump should remain unplugged, though the bed can continue to be used. Select Comfort is contacting all registered owners and will provide a replacement air pump at no charge to consumers whose cords exhibit damage to the wire insulation.
