3M Recalls Vented Hard Hats Due to Electric Shock Hazard

3M is recalling approximately 7,500 vented hard hats sold under the 3M, 3M Tekk Protection, and AOSafety brands. The recall involves white hard hats with eight ¾-inch ventilation slits on each side of the crown and a ratchet adjustment for fit. The hats feature "3M" or "AOSafety" molded into the top of the brim and "XLR8 VENTED" on the bottom of the brim, with "ANSI Z89.1" printed on a sticker inside.

The hard hats were marketed to protect against electric shock but do not provide this protection, posing a shock hazard to consumers. No injuries have been reported. The affected products were sold online at Alliedelec.com, Amazon.com, and HomeDepot.com from January 2008 through April 2016 for about $15.
